Changanacherry Police Station was opened in December 1871, in a government building in Vazhappally Village. The Police Station has got jurisdiction over 8 villages, i.e.(1) Changanacherry,(2) Vazhappally East , (3) Vazhappally west, (4) kurichy, (5) Chethippuzha, (6)Madappally, (7) Thrikkodithanam &(8) Paippadu. Construction of new building was sanctioned on 16.08.1983 and the station shifted to a rented building on 20.01.1983. Changanacherry Police Station started functioning in the new Govt.building with effect from, 01.01.1988 as per Govt. notification GO(Rt) No-408 /88/Home dt 29.01.1988
